JustScribe Terms and Conditions

By downloading, installing, or using JustScribe, you agree to these terms and conditions in full. Do not use JustScribe if you do not accept all of the terms and conditions stated on this page.

Overview

These terms and conditions govern your use of JustScribe ("the App"), a macOS transcription application developed by Quassum ("we", "us", "our"). JustScribe provides local, on-device audio transcription using machine learning models.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use JustScribe on your personal Mac computer(s) in accordance with these terms. This license does not allow you to:

• Modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Distribute, sublicense, lease, or lend the App to third parties
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App

Intellectual Property

JustScribe and all associated content, features, and functionality are owned by Quassum and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The App's name, logo, and branding are trademarks of Quassum.

Your Content

All transcriptions and content generated through JustScribe remain entirely yours. Since all processing occurs locally on your device:

• You retain full ownership of any transcriptions produced
• We have no access to, claim over, or rights to your content
• You are solely responsible for how you use your transcriptions

Local Processing

JustScribe operates entirely on your device. The App uses on-device machine learning models for transcription and does not require an internet connection for core functionality. We do not operate servers for processing your audio or transcriptions.

Third-Party Models

JustScribe utilizes open-source machine learning models (including Parakeet and Whisper) for transcription. These models run locally on your device and are subject to their respective open-source licenses.

System Permissions

JustScribe requires certain macOS permissions to function:

• Microphone access — to capture audio for transcription
• System audio access — to transcribe system audio output
• Accessibility permissions — to type transcribed text into other applications

You may revoke these permissions at any time through macOS System Settings, though doing so may limit the App's functionality.

Disclaimer of Warranties

JustScribe is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The App will be error-free or uninterrupted
• Transcriptions will be completely accurate
• The App will be compatible with all system configurations
• Defects will be corrected in any specific timeframe

Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality, language, accent, and other factors. You should not rely solely on JustScribe for critical or legal transcription needs without independent verification.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Quassum shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of JustScribe. Our total liability for any claims related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

Updates

We may release updates to JustScribe from time to time. These updates may include bug fixes, new features, or changes to existing functionality. We are not obligated to provide updates, and continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of any modified terms.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your license to use JustScribe at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these terms or is harmful to other users or to us. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and delete all copies from your devices.

Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of any changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of JustScribe after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
